Students from AE Alvaiázere visit IES Mediterráneo school in Garrucha as part of the Erasmus Project
Between 19 and 25 October, eleven students from the 10th and 11th years and two teachers from the Alvaiázere School Cluster took part in a group mobility, as part of the Erasmus+ Project, to IES Mediterráneo school in Garrucha, Spain. The initiative also involved students from Italy and Poland.
The trip began with a flight to Alicante, a first for some of the participants. Over seven action-packed days, the Portuguese group visited the cities of Granada and Almería and enjoyed an unforgettable afternoon at the beach, where they were able to try the warm waters of the Mediterranean Sea and spend time with their new international friends.
During their stay, the students took part in classes in several subjects, such as Spanish, Maths, Physical Education, Latin and Economics, and also had the opportunity to visit castles and emblematic monuments of the region. One of the most memorable moments was the flamenco workshop, which allowed the young people to immerse themselves in Spanish culture in a fun and participatory way.
Sport was also part of the programme, with multicultural teams formed to compete in basketball, badminton and volleyball games, fostering a spirit of cooperation and friendship among the students.
The participants were welcomed by very hospitable host families, who provided a comfortable and welcoming stay.
According to the students, the experience was “very enriching”, highlighting the importance of getting to know the dynamics and realities of other schools and, in this way, encouraging the building of European citizenship.
