This policy explains what personal data this website collects, what it is used for and what rights its visitors have. It applies only to the website of the Agrupamento de Escolas de Alvaiázere; how the data of students, families and staff is handled as part of school life is described on the Data Protection page.

The school group’s data protection officer is appointed by the Directorate of Services for the Centre Region (DSRC) and can be contacted at rgpd.dsrc@dgeste.mec.pt (see the Data Protection page).
What data we collect
- Visits to the website: as on any website, the server records technical data about each request (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser and operating system). It is used only to keep the website running and secure, and not to identify visitors.
- Messages you send us: if you write to one of the email addresses on the website, we use the data in your message only to reply to you and deal with the matter.
- Staff Area: the teachers and staff who sign in to the Staff Area use a personal account (username, name and email address), needed to manage the website’s content.
The website does not use analytics or advertising tools, and does not sell or pass on personal data to third parties. The website’s fonts and images are served by the website itself, without requests to external services.
Cookies and browser storage
The website only uses what is strictly necessary for it to work and to remember your choices:
- Language (
pll_languagecookie): remembers the language you chose (Portuguese or English) for one year. - Colour mode (
aealv-color-mode, in the browser’s local storage): remembers whether you chose light mode, dark mode or automatic. It stays on your device and is never sent to the website. - Staff Area session (
wordpress_*cookies): only for those who sign in to the Staff Area, to keep them signed in.
You can delete this data at any time in your browser settings; the website will keep working and will only forget your choices.
Links and content from other websites
The website links to third-party platforms and services, such as INOVAR, SIGA (the Municipal School Card) and the School Library’s social media pages, and some pages may include content from other websites, such as videos. When you use them, those services’ privacy policies apply, and we recommend that you read them.
How long we keep data
The server’s technical logs are kept only for as long as needed for the website’s security and smooth running. Emails and Staff Area accounts are kept for as long as they are needed for their purpose and for the periods required by law.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to request access to your data, its rectification or erasure, the restriction of or objection to its processing, and its portability. To exercise these rights, contact the school group or the data protection officer using the details above.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Portuguese data protection authority (Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados, CNPD), at www.cnpd.pt.
